apibrėžtis Socialinių mokslų tyrimo programa, turinti bendrą tikslą – išryškinti diskurso, kaip socialinės praktikos, vaidmenį įtvirtinant arba užginčijant vyravimo ir nelygybės santykius visuomenėje. Iškilo 20 a. 10 dešimtmečio pr. Europoje. Ryškiausi atstovai – T. van Dijkas, N. Faircloughas, R. Wodak, G. Kressas ir kt. Programa grindžiama kritinės lingvistikos prielaidomis, jos papildomos socialinės diskurso teorijos įžvalgomis. Skiriamasis programos bruožas – politinis angažuotumas ir kritiškumas. Programa siekiama skatinti socialinius pokyčius, kurių pagrindine sąlyga laikomas kritiškas įsisąmoninimas ideologinių mechanizmų, palaikančių esamą socialinę tvarką. Todėl jos tikslas yra atskleisti ideologinius įprastinių ir kasdienių diskursyvių praktikų efektus: kokiais iš pirmo žvilgsnio nematomais būdais įprastos kalbėjimo formos prisideda prie neteisingos socialinės tvarkos reprodukavimo. Dėl aiškiai išreikštų politinių tikslų neretai vadinama politine diskurso analize.
